Did you know the story of Christianity in Africa began very early?

The oldest known human fossils (over 3 million years old) were discovered in Ethiopia, reminding us that humanity’s story begins on African soil.

But Ethiopia is also connected to the early spread of Christianity.

In the Bible, an Ethiopian official encountered the message of Jesus in Acts of the Apostles when he met Philip the Evangelist. After hearing the good news about Christ, the Ethiopian eunuch was baptized and carried the message of Jesus back toward Africa.

Centuries later, Christianity became the official religion of the Kingdom of Aksum around 330 AD, making Ethiopia one of the earliest Christian nations in the world, long before most of Europe adopted Christianity.

Ethiopia also holds a unique place in African history as the only African country never permanently colonized.

And one of its most breathtaking expressions of faith is the Church of Saint George, a magnificent church carved completely out of solid rock in the 12th–13th century and still used for worship today.

From ancient human origins…to powerful African kingdoms…to early Christianity…

May this Resurrection season remind us that the story of redemption has always been far-reaching, crossing lands, cultures, and generations.

May the risen Christ meet you personally, bringing renewal, deeper faith, and the quiet assurance that you are part of His unfolding story.

Grace and peace to you this Resurrection Sunday. ✨

From Light to Light,

WandaP
